Based on their recent work and training, Nanette Auerhahn, Ph.D. and Shari Nacson, LISW-S will provide an introduction to pro bono forensic evaluation of asylum seekers. Sample reports, the role of the evaluator, evaluation structure and resources, the legal process, ethics, peer support, and training opportunities will be discussed.
At the end of this workshop, the participants should be able to:
1.) Participants will understand the role of the evaluator within the context of clinical ethics and the immigration law process.
2.) Participants will understand how clinical assessment, psychometric measures, and collateral resources can integrate into a well-informed psychological assessment.
3.) Participants will understand how to ethically and confidently expand their work into the immigration law setting through training, mentorship, and peer review.
