The Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center is fortunate to have an extraordinary 6,000-volume collection of mental health-related books, journals, manuscripts, and works of art.

In addition to our library’s robust collection, we also have access to the following:

Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing

The Library subscribes to the PEP Web database, which allows you to search full-text articles from 37 journals in psychoanalysis, 58 classic psychoanalytic books, plus the full text and editorial notes of all 24 volumes of The Standard Edition of the Complete Psychological Works of Sigmund Freud.

The Manuscript Collection

The Manuscript Collection contains papers presented to the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center during Scientific Meetings and other lecture series. The Manuscript Index can be searched by author, title, date, or discussant.

The Archival Sound Recording Collection

The Archival Sound Recording Collection contains reel-to-reel tapes of lectures delivered to the Center during Scientific Lectures and other guest lecture series between1954 and 1973. Speakers included Anna Freud, Charles Brenner, Jacob Arlow, Benjamin Spock, Selma Fraiberg, Edith Jacobson, Ralph Greenson among other notable lecturers.

How to Access Our Library

The Center’s library is open to CPC members, students, and the public. The collection can be viewed online including material availability but items must be used or checked out onsite. Only CPC members and students may check out materials.

Schedule A Visit - General Public

To schedule an on-site visit, please contact our administrator by email at admin@psychoanalysiscleveland.org. The library is generally open for public use on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Circulation Policy

Only CPC members and students may check out books for a loan period of three weeks. Journals, archives, and reference materials do not circulate, however, copies and printouts are available for a nominal per-page fee. Electronic sources are subject to licensing restrictions. Replacement fees will be charged for items not returned to the library.

Speakers Bureau

Many faculty members of the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center are frequent speakers in their various areas of interest and expertise, including psychoanalytic theory and practice, as well as psychoanalysis as it applies to art, literature, families and children, aging, religion, politics, and other topics.
