Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center Education Fund
The Psychoanalytic Education Fund (PEF) of the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center is an endowed fund dedicated to supporting qualified individuals who are engaged in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic education in Northeast Ohio. Established in 2014, PEF awards grants on the basis of financial need.
Eligibility
Eligible applicants include candidates, students, and trainees engaged in educational and professional programs conducted by the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center and Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development (HPC). Programs include, but may not be limited to, the Psychoanalytic Training Program, Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program, and Cleveland Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Training Program.
The applicant must seek financial support for a qualified activity that deepens their knowledge of psychodynamic psychotherapies. Qualified activities may include, but are not limited to, psychoanalytic and psychodynamic training and education, and the personal psychoanalysis of students, candidates, and trainees of the Center and HPC.
Financial need will be the primary criterion for determining awards. Financial needs will be based upon an applicant’s income and expenses, as requested on the application form. Preference will be given to applicants whose household income is less than $100,000.
Application Process
For the 2024-2025 academic year, applications must be submitted online no later than August 15, 2024.
Applicants will be notified of the PEF Scholarship Committee’s decisions in early September.
Only online applications made via the link below will be accepted. Each applicant will be required to provide a completed and signed IRS W-9 form with their application because awards may be taxable for the recipient. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
ln order to ensure impartiality and fairness, all applications will be de-identified before they go before the Scholarship Committee for consideration. All applications will be subject to the same selection criteria, which prioritize financial need.
The names of applicants and scholarship recipients will not be made public, and applications will be kept in confidential files only as long as they are needed for administrative purposes.
As a non-profit, charitable endowment, PEF adheres to fiscal policies that preserve principal and limit annual distributions. Per applicant awards will depend on the available funds, the number of applicants, and individual financial need. The amount of the scholarship awarded is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and may not be equal to the requested amount. Typical amounts have ranged between $250 and $1500 per academic year.
Grants will be distributed directly to the applicant, not to the program or clinical provider.
